We are fully committed to careful integration of our mining facilities into the environment and ensuring that our work processes are efficient and sustainable.

Extraction, preparation and restoration measures are carefully planned and controlled after consultation and agreement with local communities and responsible authorities. Exploited areas are converted to agriculture, forestry use or biotopes. Settling ponds remove silt from water and filter systems keep the emissions from processing plants well below permissible limits.

Today, top priority is given to ensuring that materials and energy are used in the most economic and ecologically efficient manner possible. Waste is avoided as far as possible or effectively recycled. Expensive energy is being saved by the use of modern machinery and optimised production processes, for instance waste heat from cooling of chamotte is used to heat buildings.

An energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 supports us in achieving further improvements in this field.
